This story begins with Hope Morningstar basically having a breakdown. Her boyfriend just broke up with her. In a text message! Just so you all know, I’m one of those people who when I text, I do so with actual words and grammar, not with abbreviations like B4 for the word before. So the fact that her boyfriend did this through a text message, with all those abbreviations, totally made me want to find him and sic my grade school English teacher on him. Anyway, her sister and baby niece help her get over the initial shock and pain of it. The next day, she stops in at her sister’s beauty salon where the ladies there talk her into a few cosmetic changes like cutting her hair and dying it red. She decides to head to the mall but gets lost thanks to construction but ends up finding a small, coffee shop called Freya’s Coffee Shop. Freya, the owner, brings her some food and coffee then sits to talk with her. Hope had been thinking about her bad luck with men and that she needed to make some changes in her life. Freya caught on to this and helped Hope make a few decisions. She also whips out a phone and calls someone named Declan and sets them up on a date!

So, Hope meets Declan in the food court of the mall. He brings her flowers and begins to romance her. Declan is tired of women who are dishonest and pushy, thanks to his ex-wife anyway. He does, however, really like this woman Freya set him up with. Hope is everything he wants in a partner and they have great chemistry together. She likes him a lot as well, but is unsure of herself thanks to her last couple of boyfriends. The two of them have a great time on a date, and he’s a gentleman enough to want to see her home. Not for smexy time, but to make certain she was safe! When they arrive, Hope’s texting ex is waiting for her, trying to get back together with her. Oy vey. What a jerk! The problem is, Hope just doesn’t know what to do! Declan leaves but lets her know the decision is up to her.

This really is a sweet story. I liked the fact that there was a lot of sexual tension between Hope and Declan, how he was a gentleman and really, the fact there wasn’t any text messaging going on between them helped as well. I liked Freya and the fact that she had assisted Declan’s brothers in finding their mates, how wacky she seems to be, and how mysterious and magical as well. I haven’t read anything by Ms. Davis before, but now that I have read this story I want to read more from her. This story made my holiday! It isn’t a Christmas, or other December holiday story, but it was special and joyous too! I loved it!
