Kate Blair has been in love with her best friend’s brother Mickey for years, but finally has given up any hope that he’ll finally see her as a woman and not as a little sister. While out one night, she meets Declan O’Brien, a handsome Irishman whom she’s definitely interested in taking a chance on.
The plot of this book had its up and downs and definitely left me confused at times because the story was told from different characters’ points of view. Quite honestly, it had me putting the book down a few times so I could figure out what was going on. The dialogue from both the hero and heroine in Kate and Declan was great and I loved that the heroine was finally ready to let go of her dream of being with Mickey because the hero was definitely worth exploring a relationship with no matter how rocky it became. The sex scenes were red hot and showed the instant chemistry that Kate and Declan had from the moment they met. What I liked so much about both the hero and heroine was their ability to get past everything when it became clear that Declan might not be the father of Kate’s child like she’d led him to believe.
Overall, Ms. James has done a wonderful job penning a tale of love, regret and loss until eventually everyone that deserves happiness in the end finds it.
