Detective Megan Taylor fights very hard to keep criminals off the street, but finds it hard every time she goes up against defense attorney Scott Armstrong in court. Although his career is everything she despises, she can’t seem to fight the feelings that surface every time she’s around him. However, she once fell for a man’s charming ways before and she’s not about to do it again.

From the start, the plot of this book was an absolute page turner and kept me interested until I realized in such a short time that I was at the end. How it started with Megan needing a babysitter for her daughter and Scott coming to the rescue was brilliant. Somehow, it was a way to get Megan to see that there was more to him than the dismal opinion she seemed to have. The dialogue was absorbing because Megan didn’t find it easy to trust while Scott worked so hard to see that they’d be good together. Besides, he wasn’t above using Megan’s daughter to get what he wanted because it seemed as if her daughter really liked him and if she did then Megan should as well. The sex scenes were perfect where they were in the story and revealed so much of why Megan had trust issues. One of the few men she’d been with left her pregnant and didn’t want anything to do with his baby, so how was she to know that Scott was any different? What I liked so much about each character was their determination to do their job and do it well. It illustrated their strength of character and that although they were on different sides of the law that sometimes opposites attract.

Overall, Ms. Freeman has done a marvelous job penning this tale in mixing romance and suspense and that there’s more to the hero than his charming ways.
