Someone to Watch Over Me
The Wild Rose Press
Stacey McKinney feels the only place she’s safe is her hometown when her life is threatened by a stalker. Then the threats become real when people end up dead. Yet the threat isn’t the only thing she has to worry about when she learns the man that broke her heart is back in town.
Cash Butler knows it was wrong to leave Stacey when her father manipulated him using both his wealth and power to keep them apart. But now that Stacey is back in town, there’s nothing to stop him from getting back together with her and fight for a future between them. However, when he learns there’s a threat to Stacey’s safety, he finds himself fighting to keep her safe.
The plot of this story progressed well and drew me in from the very beginning with Stacey’s need to get a job in her hometown since she didn’t think her stalker knew where she’d lived during her childhood. The dialogue was great and I enjoyed the interactions between Cash and Stacey. They were as comfortable with each other now as they had been in the past, except that Stacey couldn’t get over him leaving until she heard a good reason. The sex scenes were hot and perfect where they were in the story because the strong chemistry between Cash and Stacey was still there, although they’d been through so much because of her father wanting to keep them apart. What I enjoyed so much about Stacey was her independence and that she was willing to keep her dad out of her problems so the stalker didn’t go after him. While with Cash, I liked how protective he was of Stacey once he learnt that she had a stalker.
Overall, this story was a good read and I can’t wait to read more of this author’s work in the future.
