Annie Grant was an on-air reporter for the bull-riders tour for several years. She was beginning to have to compete with younger women for everyone except the bull riders. She had worked side-by-side with these men for a long time. Until n ow she hadn’t been tempted. Now she was drawn to one rider so intensely it was hard to resist. After one night in paradise, there was a drastic change in circumstances.
Luke Carpenter had always wanted to ride bulls and stayed close to the top in the polls. After breaking up with his long-time, hometown girlfriend, he found himself enamored with Annie. When his beloved daddy died suddenly, his circumstances would never be the same. He really missed Annie but there was nothing he could do. Her career was important to her. She traveled constantly with her job. He would not ask her to give up her job.
Cat Johnson is one of my “must-read” authors. I’m drawn to anything with her name on it. Her characters are always dynamic and interesting. Her interactions between the major characters were breathtaking and sensual. The secondary cast is pivotal in the actions taken. Johnson is a master of showing a beautifully-written sexual encounter (or multiple) without being offensive.
This book is as different from the others as I expected. The ending was totally surprising—as was the actions during the final one-third of the book. It definitely was uniquely “Cat Johnson.” I highly recommend this book to anyone. If this is your first book by her, it definitely will not be your last!
