Eleven Years On
After being informed of her father’s death by his lawyer, Jillian Schmidt doesn’t know what to expect when she returns to the town she grew up in after an eleven year absence. Leaving behind her father and her best friend all because her mother needed to get away.
Toby Archer mourned the absence of his best friend when she left town with her mother when they were both thirteen. Not knowing what to expect when he sees Jillian again, considering he’s the lawyer handling her father’s estate, he can’t help but think she’s forgotten all about him, especially when she never replied to any of the letters he sent.
The start of this story was rather interesting with how Jillian received a letter from her father’s attorney informing her of her father’s death and how she assumes that the lawyer is still her best friend’s father after all these years when in reality it’s not. It’s actually her best friend Toby. He’s taken over the law firm now that his father has retired. The dialogue was good and I enjoyed how comfortable Jillian and Toby were together even after so many years apart. The sex scenes were hot and fit perfectly where they were in the story because Toby and Jillian needed to find out why they’d never heard from the other when she left town before they could have a future together.
What I liked so much about the hero and heroine was their tenacity to discover the truth as to why they’d never been able to see each other in all the years since Jillian was forced to leave town with her mother. It showed that both of them wanted to learn the truth no matter how upsetting it would be for either one of them.
Overall, Ms. Richards had done a wonderful job penning this tale and I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future.
