Elle Conner’s best friend surprises her with cooking classes with Kevin Lattimore, the chef she has the hots for, as a present for her birthday. The only problem is that Elle is sure her inability to cook has ruined any chance she may have had to make a good impression. What she doesn’t know is that Kevin has a plan of his own and she’s playing right into his hands.
Sparks fly between Kevin and Elle from the very start. Her personality really shines through in her clothing choices for the cooking classes and the way she uses her clothes to subtly mock the other women there. It is the fact that she is utterly hopeless when it comes to the actual cooking that makes the mockery funny instead of mean. Kevin’s personality is a bit more guarded and doesn’t come through until later in the story since it is being told from Elle’s point of view. However, once he and Elle get time alone, they just fit. Everything seems to click for the two of them and they make such a fun pair – and it doesn’t hurt that he’ll be able to cook for her.
This is definitely a fast paced story, but the pace fits the length. Everything about this story is fun and will keep readers turning the pages until the very end. The small twist that comes at the end only makes it that much more enjoyable a story.
