His marriage in ruins, along with his job as a Denver police officer, Leonard Blake starts anew in rural Virginia. He buys a house he found on the internet and a job on the police force. Arriving at his new home, he’s a little surprised by its condition and the fact that it might be haunted too. Learning that a certain Jason Miller was murdered in the house fifteen years ago arouses his curiosity. After several encounters with the ghostly Jason, they form an unusual relationship. They work together to solve the murder and piece together other suspicious circumstances regarding Jason’s death. What they uncover changes Leonard’s life forever.
Leonard was forced to move after a very nasty divorce. His ex-wife’s family is set on ruining his life and livelihood with their influence in their town. Starting fresh in Virginia is where the book begins. I thought it was a pretty good read overall. Although the plot is a familiar one, the author puts her own stamp on it. The friendship that evolves between the two men is the driving force in this nicely written story. Working to solve the mystery surrounding Jason’s murder strengthens their bond and love isn’t far away. It seems improbable on paper but this tale of ghostly love worked and held my interest. I anticipated the ending and wanted to read ahead but I didn’t let my curiosity get the best of me. The ending was okay, an epilogue would have been great. If you like fantasy romance with a little mystery you’ll appreciate this one.
